About the house
Our family home — and, for a few days, yours.
Elderbrook House is home to Ben, Cody and family. The guest rooms are away from the pub, spacious and take in the views to the west over the garden and fields.
Why we do this
Personal, thoughtful, unhurried.
We believe great hospitality is all three of those, in that order. Cody and Ben spent many years in luxury hospitality before we took on Elderbrook House; those standards shape how we look after guests, softened by the warmth of a place that's a home first.

The house
A country house attached to a village pub.
Elderbrook House sits alongside The New Inn — our village pub — in Winterbourne Monkton, just north of Avebury.

The setting
The Upper Kennet valley.
The house lies in a shallow valley along the seasonal headwaters of the River Kennet. From the garden you can walk up onto the Ridgeway; the Avebury stones are approximately a 30-minute countryside walk from the house, or a few minutes by car, and there is a wonderful 60-minute walking loop to Windmill Hill.

How we host
Professional standards, at home.
Ben and Cody spent many years working in luxury hospitality before opening Elderbrook House. That background shapes how we look after guests — quietly attentive, prepared and unfussy — but the house itself is our family home, so the welcome is a personal one rather than a corporate one.
What guides us
Four things we try to get right.
01
Personal, thoughtful, unhurried.
We believe great hospitality is all three of those, in that order. Nothing rushed, nothing scripted.
02
At home from the moment you arrive.
Rooms are available from 4pm. If you would like to leave bags earlier, please contact us in advance and we'll confirm what is possible.
03
The pub next door.
The New Inn is quite literally attached to the house. Guests wander through for a pint, or a proper dinner, without ever needing a car.
04
Wiltshire, on foot.
The Ridgeway is a few minutes' walk away. Avebury, its stone circle and the surrounding ancient landscape are approximately one mile south of the house.
